The first Nöel

Chermayeff & Geismar Collection Box 9 Folder 16, late 1950s.

Getting into the holiday spirit, we bring you Brownjohn, Chermayeff & Geismar’s charming wink at process; the improvisational feel of their Christmas cut-out jazzes up the highly structured and pre-planned design of the firm’s letterhead. I don’t know if the misplaced diaeresis was intentional or not, but it does make a certain amount of graphic sense.

Click here for the unadorned letterhead (moment of silence for the defunct Silver Lining).
